Robert Greene Interview, Part 8: "Handling Adversity"

Media December 08, 2020 / By Milena Z. Fisher, Ph.D.

"When you're facing the reality on a daily basis, you're schooled in it – and it forces you to develop yourself, it forces you to develop the inner strength, it forces you to develop resolve." – Robert Greene

In 2019, TCP's Milena Z. Fisher visited Robert Greene, the author of many international bestsellers The 48 Laws of Power, The Art of Seduction, The 33 Strategies of War, The 50th Law, Mastery, The Laws of Human Nature, etc. to have a conversation about his views on creativity. You can read Milena's subsequent article A Voice Of Wisdom In Creativity Quarrel: "Mastery" by Robert Greene in which she summarizes why mastery is such an essential read for anyone interested in creativity.

In this clip, Greene discusses the unexpected benefits of overcoming life's difficulties. He points out how a privileged background might at times hinder the development of one's true self while overcoming adversity puts an underdog on a natural path to a true strength that is grounded in reality and a deep sense of self-reliance.
